Easter Farmhouse Bunny Decor

It is hard to believe Easter is already less than two months away! There have been some nice days lately and I have started to make spring and Easter decor. In this post I will share how to make a super easy farmhouse Easter bunny for your home. I saw a similar bunny at HomeGoods and it was $15! I knew I could replicate it for much cheaper using Dollar Tree products.

The items you will need to make this farmhouse Easter bunny are:

  1. Dried green moss; about 1-1 1/2 cups worth (from Dollar Tree)
  2. Tinsel bunny sign plaque (from Dollar Tree)
  3. Glue Gun
  4. Spray paint in black or brown
  5. Optional: Ribbon of choice (from Dollar Tree, or elsewhere)
  6. Optional: your flowers of choice (I am using lilacs from Dollar Tree)

I had everything on hand besides the bunny sign so I only wound up spending $1 the day I made the bunny! Be sure you check your craft supplies before beginning new projects; you never know what you might already have on hand!

The first step is to remove the tinsel from the bunny. It comes off super easy because its just strung around the tabs.

Once you have removed all the tinsel, take your black or brown spray paint and give it a good coat or two. If you are going to do multiple coats; make sure each coat is even, light, and dry between applications. If it’s not perfect don’t fret; you don’t have to completely cover all the white with brown or black since most of it will be covered in moss anyway.

Once the paint has dried, take your glue gun and work in small sections applying the hot glue and then applying the green moss. I just added hot glue to the main parts of the bunny; the moss portions stuck together well and covered a fairly large section of the bunny. It is okay if the plastic shows through; since the plastic has been painted brown or black it may just look like a twig in the moss.

The last step is optional; it is to add a bow and/or flowers to your bunny. I chose to make a double bow using wire ribbon from the Dollar Tree that I found in my craft closet. At one point I also added the lilac florals from Dollar Tree to my bunny’s ears. If you choose to add florals to your bunny; you may consider adding them on either side of the bow as well (or wherever else you think looks good!).
