I have wanted to give my builder grade home some extra storage and increase the functionality since it was completed. I did this in the laundry room and pantry by customizing each with RTA cabinets. If you haven’t tried RTA cabinets, they are a great DIY friendly option that gives you a high end look but on a more affordable budget. The RTA Store offers ready to assembly (RTA) cabinets as well as assembled cabinetry in many colors, wood stains, and door styles. I chose the Ashville Cloud Shaker cabinet to for each space that way the house would have a cohesive look. The RTA Store also has designers to help you design your space and give you the best options and material list so you don’t forget anything. All the cabinets are made with real wood boxes, not MDF, which is why I chose them. The paint finish is also smooth and even; they look very high end.
The RTA cabinets come individually packaged with all the hardware to necessary assemble them. You only need to have a drill/driver, a Phillips #2 bit, and wood glue. They are very DIY friendly; it’s like putting together a puzzle with a few, large pieces. Each cabinet only took about 15 minutes to assemble and most sizes can be easily completed by one person. For the bigger cabinets I definitely recommend having someone help you; it keeps the process very easy. I shared just how easy it was in my Laundry Room Makeover video . The pantry already had lower white oak base cabinets and I thought having a two toned pantry to match the kitchen would look cohesive but also add lots of character to the small space. I chose the Ashville Cloud shaker cabinet that I used in the laundry room. The color is a creamy soft white and I love it paired with the champagne bronze hardware and wallpaper.
